What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Youth Mountain Bike Skills Clinic Program

FAMB's annual youth clinic program provides six free, professionally-instructed mountain bike skills clinics to children ages 8-16. Clinics take place at Herron Park in Kalispell, MT and on the Whitefish Trail in Whitefish, MT.

Population(s) Served
Children and youth

FAMB provides four free mountain bike skills clinics annually for women. Clinics progress from the first basic skills clinic to clinics that focus on more specific skills like switchbacks and ascending/descending technique.

Population(s) Served
Women and girls

FAMB leads 4-6 free group rides per year. Group rides are typically more technical and/or feature significant elevation gain/loss and are geared toward more advanced, fit riders.

Population(s) Served
Adults

FAMB provides scholarships to 4-7 local youth each summer. Students are referred to FAMB by school counselors and receive a free mountain bike, helmet and accessories, free transportation to and from each of the six kids clinics, and free clinic instruction at each clinic. Students take home their bikes at the end of the program after meeting an attendance requirement, a service requirement, and writing a final essay.

Population(s) Served
At-risk youth

FAMB maintains Spencer Freeride Network and pays annual Special Recreational Use License fees to the DNRC.

Population(s) Served
Adults

FAMB completed construction of a pump track in Armory Park in Whitefish, MT in Fall 2019. We continue to maintain the pump track.

Population(s) Served

Data
  • We review compensation data across the organization (and by staff levels) to identify disparities by race.
Policies and processes
  • We seek individuals from various race backgrounds for board and executive director/CEO positions within our organization.
  • We have community representation at the board level, either on the board itself or through a community advisory board.
  • We engage everyone, from the board to staff levels of the organization, in race equity work and ensure that individuals understand their roles in creating culture such that one’s race identity has no influence on how they fare within the organization.
