What we aim to solve

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

Let's be S.M.A.R.T. aims to enhance education about animals to Successfully Manage Animal Rights Today. We take a positive approach to expanding awareness of the mutually beneficial relationship between humans and animals. The interaction between animals and humans is vital for animals' well-being, both physically and mentally. Human beings often think of pets as beings that enhance our lives, but forget to consider the fact that many animals need our love and support. Let's be S.M.A.R.T. aims to educate about the importance of animals in human lives and the benefits we gain from engaging with them. We hope to integrate this information into global educational standards starting from childhood. Animal welfare volunteer tourism is expanding fast and we aim to contribute to its development by hosting volunteers in our international rescues so they can gain first-hand experience with the care stray animals need. They can then become ambassadors of animal care in their communities.

The campaign in Greece aims to promote and educate about animal rights in Greece in addition to helping local stray animal communities.

Our Greece campaign focuses on educational activities, the operation of a 5-star cat rescue facility, finding permanent homes for rescued animals through adoption, and offering a volunteer and veterinary internship programs.

Animals rescued as part of our Greece campaign have found adoptive homes both locally and internationally.

S.M.A.R.T. Family video series for children and adults explain in an educative and yet in fun ways many important facts and topics about our animals, whether they are strays or our pets. It is important for each child, parent or family and furthermore their communities to have a better understanding of our animals in general and also more specifically our stray population to make a more positive environment for both the people and the animals well-being.

The video series are created by a professional videographer and animator dedicated to promoting our visions and passions and they are available in Greek, English and Arabic (we are also translating the videos into other languages upon request).

All our video series contain also statistics, many S.M.A.R.T. tips and animal stories. We offer an educational packages for schools with our video series, printable notebooks (summarizing each video’s content and asking children questions) and suggested activities.

S.M.A.R.T. Yards are community yards that our organization is helping set up throughout local communities and with their agreement. Our yards help promote social responsibility toward strays and help share in the care for the same.

Designed primarily for the benefit of the stray population, the S.M.A.R.T. Yards provide protection, access to daily food and water and medical care when needed. The S.M.A.R.T. Yards help keep the stray population healthier and well taken care of.

The local community will benefit equally as the S.M.A.R.T. Yards keep the stray population under control and they keep the streets more free from strays (which eventually they can be harmed). Designing a fixed frame for taking care of the strays within the S.M.A.R.T. Yards will get local communities united towards a common goal.

Moreover, sterilizing and micro chipping the strays in the S.M.A.R.T. Yards provide the community with the awareness of the place, scope and current situation of the strays group.

Our organization offers a global Volunteer Program for those who wish to come to Greece, help in our Greece campaign cat rescue shelter, gain experience in working with animals and contribute to a good cause.

Let's be S.M.A.R.T. is a non-profit organization and in order to cover all costs associated with running of our rescue facility we rely on private funding and donations. Volunteers are therefore important for our mission to keep on going and they are wholeheartedly welcomed.

Apart of the practical aspects and help offered by volunteers, we strongly believe - and it is our vision as well - that through the act of service the volunteering helps to promote compassion, love, care for animals and their well-being.

In 2021 we launched an all year round Animal Welfare Internship Opportunities for Veterinary Students, Vet Techs/Veterinary Nurses and University Students with Animal Studies and Shelter Management Studies
at our Greece mission cat rescue shelter in Attika region.

Our interns come to Greece to learn, to train for their future career and make a difference. They will gain hands-on experience in animal care, shelter medicine, shelter management, animal welfare organization work, animal welfare management in general and much more. Our interns receive guidance from professionals in their field, gain new friends and contacts and experience life in Greece for the people and animals. The internship program includes also an array of fun activities in order to experience local Greece and many of the amazing sites to visit and key ecological projects we help to support.

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

Let's be S.M.A.R.T. steps in to provide accessible education, practical for both children and adults, about the importance of animals, how to care for them, and the benefits humans reap from engaging with them.

Our main goals are to Successfully Manage Animal Rights Today and work toward global animal welfare. We look to share critical information and facts about animals globally so we can help people understand the benefits gained by being compassionate toward and caring for animals.

The foreign campaigns run by Let's be S.M.A.R.T. center largely around the goals of increasing animal awareness and reducing the abuse and neglect of animals. Animal awareness includes the knowledge of how to practically care for animals on the personal, community, and global scales.

Let's be S.M.A.R.T. focuses on the implementation of solution-minded programs. Programs may include education about how to care for animals on a limited budget or small living quarters, and proper stray care and pet care.

The first level of education that Let's be S.M.A.R.T. provides is information that is easily accessible by all on our website. Facts about animals, tips about how to care for them, and information about the benefits humans gain from interacting with them can be read online. Moving beyond our online content, we circulate a brochure with vital animal care information. Our brochure is available in English and Greek, with more languages upcoming.

Let's be S.M.A.R.T. organizes a variety of events designed to bring communities together with the common goal of facilitating and encouraging the responsible care of animals. All of our events pair hands-on activities for all ages with education about animal benefits. Our recent charity event in NYC brought children and artists together to create in the name of animal care.

All children who connect with Let's be S.M.A.R.T. are equipped with our SMART Kids Backpacks, which are filled with supplies children can use to help stray animals.

Let's be S.M.A.R.T. relies on interaction with the community to facilitate the change in animal care that we are encouraging. In addition to our website, Let's be S.M.A.R.T. has official social media pages which act as channels for education. We reach out to community members through social media with a sense of common humanity, inviting them to see glimpses of the work that goes into our daily operations.

Let's be S.M.A.R.T. is made up of a collection of employees and volunteers who hit the pavement to share our mission with the people they come into contact with. Online information sources are convenient, but nothing beats old-fashioned flyers and pamphlets!

With animal tourism on the rise, volunteers come from around the world to further our animal care and education mission. Our shelter in Greece allows us to provide concrete modeling of how to care for the animals around us and support the growth of volunteer engagement.

Compassion and commitment enable us to meet our goals.

Let's be S.M.A.R.T. has come a long way from its humble beginnings. Currently, our website acts as an educational hub for anyone looking to learn more about animals and how to care for them properly. Our social media pages complement our website and provide real-time modeling of animal care in action.

Our PAWZITIVE program has organized various events aiming to educate both children and adults about animal care.

Let's be S.M.A.R.T. runs a shelter in Greece which works to rescue cats in need and find adoptive, loving forever homes.

There is a lot to look forward to. The launch of our volunteer program has taken off with great success and continues to expand, highlighting the potential of animal tourism.

Our S.M.A.R.T. Hood app is now ready to go live and connect people globally.

We look ahead to the addition of programs expanding upon the connection between Alzheimer's and Animals, as well as our S.M.A.R.T. Dreams program which will guarantee good homes to animals that pass away.
