What we aim to solve
Recent changes to the way content is created and distributed have led to a global visual storytelling marketplace that is simultaneously more open, powerful, and diverse, while also being more disorganized and dissatisfying to creators and consumers. As people, we all live our lives and create communities based around the stories we hear and share with each other. Previously, an anointed few artists would be allowed to tell their story to an audience with very few choices. As the digital age has advanced, artists all over the world have been given the ability to create and distribute their story, to a fractured but hungry market; where an audience’s ability to discover and a storyteller’s ability to monetize is harder than ever.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Catalyst (formerly the Independent Television Festival) continues to advance the art of visual and literary storytelling by empowering creators, producers, and audiences to share their stories.
It is our mission to help curate, and promote the best and most meaningful new voices of our time, bridging the gap between storytellers, their audience, and those that come from traditional areas of entertainment and advertising.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
We create a strong community of creators and executives that meet each other within our curated system. This build trust between them, which lowers the barriers to the existing TV industry and allows these new voices to shine through and have their stories heard by the executives that can bring them to screen. Personalization and a valuable reputation of building one-on-one relationships is our strategy.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
Our organization has been building a professional network in the TV industry for over over 15 years. This strong community is how we bring new creators together with industry executives. Our database matches types of creators with the people looking for the specific types of content they have created.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
Dozens of shows have been sold and hundreds of creators have found new projects and jobs through the people they met at the festival. Next is to raise the global PR profile of the organization so that the hundreds of new shows we discover can be viewed by the general public.
