Individual Outreach Campaign

Peopleforbikes
is building a powerful national movement of people who want safer, more
appealing places to ride and mobilizing them around key issues. We promote the
PFB pledge to support better bicycling at community events, in retail stores,
and through social media and then keep signers updated about threats or
opportunities that affect bicycling where they live. "Calls to action,” used
sparingly and only when events warrant, allow supporters to take direct action
on issues like the federal transportation bill by providing talking points and
contact information for elected representatives. PFB creates new champions for
bicycling by introducing them to basic advocacy while providing ongoing
information about bicycling through blogs, social media, and our website.

PlacesForBikes is a PeopleForBikes program that helps quickly build and connect great places to ride. Then we measure their benefits: More people riding more safely makes communities better places to live, work and play.

PlacesForBikes offers a smart, transparent and data-driven city rating system.
The Big Jump Project connects 10 dynamic U.S. cities with the world’s best ideas to quickly build biking networks and measure what happens next.
The inaugural PlacesForBikes conference took place on June 28-30, 2017 at the Monona Terrace in Madison, WI. It convened hundreds of local leaders and bike industry representatives from across the U.S. to give them tools, ideas and strategies to achieve broader community goals through biking.

The Better Bike Share Partnership is a collaboration funded by The JPB Foundation to build equitable and replicable bike share systems. The partners include PeopleForBikes Foundation, The City of Philadelphia, Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia, and the National Association of City Transportation Officials (NACTO).

PeopleForBikes' role in the partnership includes administering grant funding through partnerships with bike share operators, cities and local nonprofits to help U.S. cities develop and implement strategies to increase bike share use in their own underserved communities. PeopleForBikes also manages the storytelling effort to communicate the approaches, successes and challenges of the grantees through blogs, articles, images and videos.
