What we aim to solve

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

MMK work with educators, businesses, government, community, and families to assist school districts with increasing underserved students’ graduation rates; preparing them to become college, career, work-force, and military ready and prepared to transition into their adult lives as contributing citizens. MMK provides assistance to students to increase Math and English test scores and expose them to careers that they are underrepresented. According to 2016-2017 California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CASPP) test results (standardized test used to measure students’ proficiency skills in English/Language Arts, & Math) cumulative, across our schools; only 31.3% of African American students and 37.3% of Hispanic/Latino students scored proficient in English. Less than 30% of both ethnic groups scored proficient in Math. these groups face higher risks of not graduating from high school college prepared. They are excluded from higher skilled and paid 21st Century careers.

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

MMK goals are to provide educational enrichment programs that excites the interest for STEM and to increase African American, Hispanic/Latino, other minorities, and women to STEM-related careers through exposure. Introducing them to career opportunities that they may be under-represented due to lack of exposure; could bridge the STEM Gap for many generations. Our approach is to offer fun-filled and hands-on project based programs that reveals the applicability of math and science to real-life experiences; provide field trips to STEM related industries; provide aviation exposure to careers ranging from Aviation Maintenance & Airframe Power-plant Training to flight pilot training; careers related to Law & Justice and forensic technologies.

MMK have established connections with school districts; youth and community organizations to refer students to our programs; throughout San Bernardino County Victor-Valley. We have also established relationships with businesses, government; educators, and community volunteers to assist MMK with delivering high-quality educational programs and field trips to ensure a complete experience and exposure to their core competencies and industries. Once students enroll in our programs, parents are required to attend a mandatory orientation that allows parent participation, gives permission to track students; progress, and build strong family relationships that ensure the maximum results for their children.

Through the consistent funding from sponsors, grants and donations and the established connections with school districts; youth and community organizations; students are referred to our programs throughout San Bernardino County Victor-Valley. MMK have also established relationships with businesses, government; educators, and community volunteers to assist us with delivering high-quality educational programs and field trips to ensure a complete experience and hands on exposure to their core competencies and industries. MMK’s comprehensive and evidence-based programs consistently proves; with early education intervention and exposure to comprehensive English, Language Arts curricula, integrated into math and science projects, these students are able to develop analytical and problem-solving skills that are equal to their peers. Early exposure to highly skilled and high paying STEM related careers such as Aviation, Computer Sciences, Medical, & Law and Justice, provides access to these fields of studies to prepare them for these careers. As a result of this exposure, MMK students have helped other students to increase their GPA’s. MMK students are graduating from high-school, college, and they are workforce, and military prepared. They are gaining access to these industries, in which, they are significantly underrepresented. These are the reasons MMK continues to exist in our community. Increases in funding (grants and donations) will help MMK more effectively address these issues by expanding our community impact.

Since 2005, serving more than 4 ,000 youth and families, Millionaire Mind Kids (MMK) have collaborated with educators, business leaders, and community volunteers to provide community and educational enrichment programs to minority and low-income students; clients of Domestic Violence Centers, and Foster Care and Kinship Organizations, throughout Victor Valley. Millionaire Mind Kids collective impact has assisted local schools with building positive school cultures; increasing student achievement; increasing graduation rates; and assisting students with college acceptance and scholarship awards. We have assisted government with sharing county-wide visions (with families) and helping families to implement small steps, that unifies residents, to increase safety in our schools, workplaces, and communities. We are assisting businesses with building and strengthening the skills of students and parents who are preparing to transition into the workforce. We are helping to prepare youth leaders who understand civic responsibility; and the importance of building a ladder of opportunities, which allows them, to climb to their highest aspirations; while creating success pathways for others to climb.
MMK has received awards and recognition from all sectors of our communities: San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools, SBC First District Supervisor, 33rd District Assemblyman, 7th District Congressman, Victorville City’s Mayor, local school districts, businesses, and community organizations.
Through grants and donations, MMK's have provided self-empowerment and project-based Aviation, Science, Technology, Engineer, Arts, and Math (STEAM) Robotics and Financial Literacy programs, to more than 4000 elementary, middle, and high-school students. As a result of these programs, students' are inspired to explore Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math career options; become more financial responsible; and learn ways to apply information and innumerable skills to real-life situations.
MMK’s programs are designed to excite students’ appetite for STEM-related careers. Over the past four years, from 200 high-school graduates, 100% percent of MMK’s high school students graduated from high school. 40% are STEM students (increase 7% from last year) and are attending universities and community colleges with the following majors: computer science, engineering, medical, biochemistry, forensic technologies and aviation related disciplines.
