The Ausherman Family Foundation strives to improve the Frederick County, Maryland community by providing grants to nonprofits for operating costs, programmatic funding, and capacity building. Areas of focus include Arts & Culture; Children, Youth, & Families; Health & Human Services; and Public/Society Benefit. AFF also acts as a catalyst for change in the Frederick County community. The Foundation leads others to give by providing matching grants and collaborating with philanthropists and other foundations.

AFF supports large-scale development projects that promote beautification and reinvigorate culture and business. These Community Benefit Projects include all physical structures, such as buildings and artwork, that add to the overall beauty of Frederick County. AFF works to catalyze Community Benefit Projects through partnerships and collaboration.

The Ausherman Family Foundation has a Board of Trustees and staff who are passionate about raising the quality of life for Frederick County residents. They strive to understand the needs of the community and dedicate financial and human resources to that end.

Helped create the Frederick Speaker Series and provided ongoing support.
Provided the catalyzing funding for New Spire Arts.
Funded the Public Arts Master Plan, and funded art projects and staffing.
Contributed to the beautification of the community.
Provided financial support for our areas of focus.
Collaborated with other local funders and published the results of the Frederick Data Project.
Supported our grant partners with emergency funding during COVID-19.
Outfitted and provided the use of a downtown building for the YMCA to provide arts programming.
Partnered with the Frederick County YMCA's Arts and Humanities division to collaboratively enhance performing arts education in Frederick.
Furnished, renovated, and provided Phoenix Foundation a below-market lease to open Maryland's only recovery high school serving students affected by substance use disorder.
Convened the IDEA (Inclusive, Diverse, Equity-Aligned) Committee from a group of engaged community members to ensure better support Black-led nonprofits.
