Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
VotePA's work is now more crucial than ever. Our 50 remaining Pennsylvania counties' paperless touchscreen and pushbutton electronic voting systems are now approaching a decade of use and nearing the end of their useful lives. As unverifiable DRE voting computers grow older, they are becoming more and more prone to failure, representing an increased threat to election integrity, accuracy, and security. In the meantime even more dangerous, hackable internet voting schemes are looming on the horizon.
VotePA's goals for the next three to five years include:
Voting Systems
• Educate elected officials, voters, and the general public of the dangers of unverifiable electronic voting and internet voting schemes.
• Advocate for the timely selection of a next generation of voting systems that will allow every Pennsylvanian to meaningfully verify that his or her vote is being recorded accurately as cast.
Citizen Participation
• Organize citizen-led election integrity groups in every Pennsylvania county, or where county groups are not possible on a regional basis, for the observation of election processes and to increase citizen participation.
• Inform candidates for elected office of election integrity issues, educate voters and the public as to candidate positions on election and voting rights issues.
• Continue to recruit pollworkers to serve in precincts on Election Day, advocate for improvements in pollworker training and appreciation.
Research and Study
• Continue to observe and study voting systems and other election processes.
• Develop tools and methods to help local election integrity groups and individual citizens observe and study their elections.
