Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
The Evans Foundation seeks to perform forward-looking research into Multiple Systems Atrophy, other neurodegenerative diseases, and more general biotechnological areas as a small, efficient organization that can pursue high-risk, high-impact projects with considerable independence. We also seek to promote visibility and interest in MSA research amongst the Southern California research community, and provide independent research evaluation, education and outreach to the public.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
We are a small, flexible organization with extremely low-overhead, and we hope to leverage these advantages into an ability to do research in a more efficient, agile, targeted manner than larger organizations.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
As an organization first started around the Evans family's prior biotechnology successes, our board and staff bring together extensive scientific research, medical research, and research and business management capabilities, with experience in everything from forward-looking basic scientific research, to translational biotechnology research, to direct pharmaceutical development, mostly in small, agile settings.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
We have made considerable inroads in promoting awareness of MSA and similar diseases to the scientific and biotechnology industries in Southern California. For research and public outreach, our prior evaluations of several proposed treatments for MSA were recently shown to be correct and prudent, while our investigation of novel diagnostics methods and compilation of fundamental mechanistic research continues.
