Making the Right Choice Easy
Programs and results
What we aim to solve
WE ARE ON A MISSION To protect our nation’s youth from the horrors of drug abuse, using highly effective tactics to foster their bright futures.
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Drug Free Clubs of America
Created by firefighters because sometimes saying “NO” isn’t enough.
Drug Free Clubs of America works in 2 ways:
1. To recognize and encourage students who are choosing NOT to use drugs, and
2. To make sure students have powerful tools to stay drug free.
It is really that easy. You will have testing as an “out” when you suddenly find yourself caught in a situation with drugs by saying, “I can’t, I might get tested”.
Although the test is done at school it is very private.
Only you & your parent get the test results. As a member you will get a full color club photo ID card.
You can show your card for “rewards” to recognize your drug free lifestyle.
Rewards have been anything from goodie bags to ticket discounts, or privileges that others don’t get. Others see you getting rewarded so they know not to offer you drugs. Also, it looks great on any job or college application!
Random re-testing continues all year. Remain drug free, the rewards continue!
Drug Free Clubs of America, Parents Take Five
Events throughout one year of a student's participation in Drug Free Clubs of America create ideal opportunities for parents to capitalize on the moment and have a highly relevant conversation with their teen about drugs. Drug Free Clubs of America alerts parents about these opportunities, prompts them to have the conversation, and builds parent confidence in their ability to do so by offering verbiage and conversation strategies written by professionals in the field of substance abuse prevention.
Drug Free Clubs of America, In The "No"
Students participating in Drug Free Clubs of America are offered information and education mostly through social media on drug-related topics such as risks, trends, warnings, and awareness about misconceptions.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Carrying out specific, tangible measures for teens to have as tools & skills to handle challenging peer pressure to use substances
Offering the opportunity for students to create an environment of positive peer to peer influence through student-led initiatives.
Promoting positive parent/child dialogues centered on avoiding drug abuse
Providing a vehicle for schools, communities and families to join efforts around one consistent drug prevention strategy.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
Drug testing for students to rely on in their time of need so they may combat peer pressure by saying, "I can't, I get tested".
Positive reinforcement measures through rewards at school and at local businesses or events in the student's community.
DFCA's "Take Five" program providing parents with ideal circumstances and verbiage for talking to their child about drugs.
Student officers at the center of school reward creation, awareness events, and fellow student recruitment to grow their chapter's impact.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
Founding members knowledgeable about drug-related issues including drug testing industry competency and drug abuse consequences.
Key collaborations in place at each branch location of DFCA for community engagement as well as on-site random and initial drug testing services.
Partnership with major hospital near DFCA's home office for lab and medical review officer services, increased buying power for program supplies, consultation with professionals in the field of substance abuse prevention for "Take Five" program content.
Two full time and one part time staff in place for reliable operation practices who have worked with the program since it's inception in 2006.
High degree of in-kind donation including office spaces, supplies, personnel time, and other resources needed to keep costs at a minumum.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
Since 2006 DFCA's strategy has developed into a comprehensive, & detail oriented program. After years of success in the area surrounding the home office, a scalability model was identified, which is in its forth pilot year as of 2015. All branches of the program are within a day-trip driving distance of the program's staff so that quick adjustments and training sessions may be conducted. Next on the horizon would be to extend the geographic reach even further.
