Simmons College Of Kentucky is an institution of biblical higher education dedicated to educating people in the urban context through strong academic and professional programs in order that they may become productive citizens and agents of change in society.

Notes from the nonprofit

For 143 years Simmons College of Kentucky has been a beacon for those who look for a lighted pathway. The presence of the college has served as an anchor institution, providing hope for the neighborhood and west Louisville. Simmons College is Louisville's HBCU. Black colleges do more with less for those who have always had less. The time is now for foundations, individuals and corporations to invest in the future of the institution. The transformative impact will be immediate for the communities of west Louisville, changing families lives now and for future generations.

Simmons College of Kentucky is a historically Black college that focuses on providing educational opportunities to a predominately Black, regional population that has been disadvantaged, underserved and marginalized. Eighty percent of Simmons enrollment is Pell eligible, with the same percentage coming from homes that are at or below the national poverty level.
