What we aim to solve
Too many lives are lost due to complications from poor vascular access care. The Associaton for Vascular Access Foundation is dedicated to saving lives through risk-free vascular access by promoting evidence-based clinical practice. We serve clinicians interested in the vascular access specialty, students of the healthcare professions, and vascular access patients and their families. With the Association for Vascular Access Foundation tagline of Innovation | Research | Education, we strive to prevent the vascular access complications that plague patients on a daily basis.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
We hope to support risk-free vascular access to all patients by providing education and research funding to clinicians who use vascular access devices in the healthcare setting. By providing support for education and research, we hope to increase the evidence available for best practices in vascular access to improve outcomes and also drive the recognition of vascular access as a medical specialty.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
1) Increase our available funds and strategic reserves.
2) Provide travel scholarships to the AVA Annual Scientific Meeting and other Vascular Access Meetings.
3) Provide academic scholarships to those working in the vascular access arena.
4) Provide research grants that will advance the body of knowledge in the specialty of vascular access.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
A diverse and dedicated Board of Directors helps implement the strategic plan of our organization. Their connections in academics, industry, and healthcare coupled with their focus on the mission, vision, and goals of The Association for Vascular Access Foundation allow us to grow and spread the word about our objectives.
Additionally, our organization has a close relationship with the Association for Vascular Access. AVA's members, staff, and supporters aid our mission and vision. The AVA Annual Scientific meeting is a key event for the Foundation to promote our programs and solicit support from the meeting attendees and AVA members.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
The Association for Vascular Access Foundation has grown its reserves to $200,000 over the last 6 years. We award travel scholarships annually to the AVA Annual Scientific Meetings. We are modeling our strategic fundraising efforts toward more corporate organizations and are exploring professionally outsourced solutions to assist in our philanthropy.
This year we have additional fundraising programs in place that should increase our overall donations, including online fundraising opportunities. We have received $80,000 in funding from the Association for Vascular Access.
Our organization is funding a major research project which will impact the lives of pediatric vascular access patients. The Foundation is also working to establish internal and external processes and evaluation criteria to evaluate funding opportunities that will propel and support our strategic direction in research, innovation and education.
