What we aim to solve
PBJ Connections addresses the need for culturally competent, client-centered mental health treatment. We know there is a need for mental health treatment in the Pataskala, Ohio area, and seek to fill that void. We also know that EAGALA model equine assisted psychotherapy and other experiential therapies are sometimes more effective with clients, and we seek to provide alternative treatment options.
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
A PONY Program
School-based psychoeducational groups focused on leadership, empowerment, coping skills and self-esteem. Groups follow the EAGALA model of equine assisted psychotherapy and personal development and typically last ten weeks.
CONNECT Program
This program provides individual and family EAGALA model equine assisted psychotherapy (EAP) sessions in Central Ohio. Clients must have a diagnosable mental health disorder. PBJ Connection is able to bill insurance for the majority of CONNECT sessions.
Office Therapy, Pataskala
PBJ Connections provides traditional office therapy and assessment out of their Pataskala, Ohio office. Sessions are billable through insurance mental health coverage and sessions are provided by independently licensed social workers and counselors.
PBJ@Work
PBJ Connections provides corporate team building sessions utilizing the EAGALA model of equine assisted personal growth. Three session packages are available to meet the needs of a variety of professional groups.

Expressive Arts Therapy
Individual and group expressive arts therapy sessions provide an innovative way to help children and teens have more self-awareness and healthy self-expression.
Healing Connections
Healing Connections is a four day immersive program designed to address the lasting impact of trauma. Experiencing trauma can have significant effects on mental health including PTSD, Depression and Anxiety that impact daily life. Healing Connections is centered around the power of healthy relationships with ourselves and others to generate healing.
This unique approach combines education about trauma, equine (horse)-assisted learning activities, and trauma processing exercises facilitated by a therapist in a group of peers with similar life experiences.
