Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Education of Medical Professionals & The Public
1. Annual Scientific-Medical Conference: serves both Medical professionals and patients. The conference brings together scientists and physicians as well as patient. Continuing medical education units are available to medical professionals who attend. Patients benefit by interacting with medical professionals who specialize in Morgellons disease and networking with others to facilitate improved support systems and medical care. Scientists and physicians benefit through sharing the latest findings in morgellons research and networking with others who have interest in Morgellons disease. Patients have the opportunity to share their personal experiences with the disease. The conference is video recorded and DVDs serve to educate the medical community and the general public throughout the year. The conference objectives and goals are measured by evaluations completed by all attendees.
2. Website: We host a busy website which serves as an educational model for both medical professionals and patients. The peer reviewed research published in medical literature can be accessed through links on our website. Helpful links for locating physicians who treat Morgellons are available for patients. A step by step guide for patients new to Morgellons allows them to locate a physician and helps them to learn more about the disease. Objectives and goals are measured through the direct feedback we get when we are contacted via the website. Unlike any other website on the Morgellons topic, we provide information that is strictly scientific and evidence based.
3. Social Media: The CEHMDF uses social media to facilitate education, patient support and networking. We host an active Facebook, Twitter and Google Plus page. Patients and medical professionals interact through social media facilitating an increasingly broad knowledge base about Morgellons to the general public. Our members also interact on professional medical forums to bring more medical professionals up to date.
4. Medical Education: Our foundation hosts booths at medical conferences to provide educational materials to the medical community. Demonstrations of how diagnosis can be made are provided to clinicians. Our medical and scientific advisors speak at conference on the Morgellons topic. Written evaluations submitted by conference attendees which evaluate our goals and objectives.
5. Media: Our medical and scientific advisors as well as patients provide interviews for television, radio, newspapers and more to further educate the public on the topic of Morgellons. Feedback provided from commentaries on these news pieces help to evaluate goals and objectives in media participation.
6. Educational Materials: Brochures on our website are available for anyone to download, print and distribute to help spread awareness of Morgellons disease. Calendars which feature photographic images and descriptions provided to us by researchers are available on the website. Feedback from these useful educational tools is provided by the general public.
