Mission

Kidmia is an advocate for the fatherless and families in Ethiopia. We lead the way in progressive models of indigenous orphan care in partnership with the local church, providing the basics of life we all long for: family, nutrition, education, health care, sustainability, hope. We both create new families through adoption and ensure that existing families have a chance to remain intact, not having to make the impossible and unjust decision of which children they can afford to keep.

Our mission is ending the Ethiopian orphan crisis through family preservation, child reunification, and local adoption.

What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Kidmia Transition Center: A safe haven for orphaned children and a "light on the hill" for the community.

The Kidmia Foundation: Provides awareness of the orphan crisis to Americans and encourages them to live out the Gospel through assisting these children.

Population(s) Served

We provide children with holistic care at our Child Transition Center, while enabling family members to develop the means to care for them after being reunified.

Population(s) Served

We provide children with holistic care at our Sodo Transition Center, while empowering family members to develop the means to care for them after being reunified. This center also serves as our base of operations in facilitating local adoptions.

Population(s) Served

When preservation or reunification is not possible, the next best option is indigenous adoption – the adoption of a child into a family within his or her own community. Seed Adoption helps resource the 30,000 local churches and 14 million evangelicals in Ethiopia to care for and adopt orphaned children. As a result, the first local adoption in the nation’s history took place in 2012, and we continue to facilitate local adoptions each month.
