Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Bound for Peace
Bound for Peace is a service trip program that sends volunteers to areas in poverty stricken, developing countries such as Colombia, Nicaragua, and Ecuador. Trips are offered in six locations (Medellin, Colombia; Barranquilla, Colombia; Ibague, Colombia; Managua, Nicaragua; Quito, Ecuador) where volunteers can work with already established organizations that grant useful tools helpful for cultural immersion. Volunteers provide educational resources and close relationships that encourage youth to build a life outside of the daily cycle of violence and poverty. Volunteers will be taken on an unforgettable adventure to become part of a movement that empowers children to pursue an education and break the cycle of violence and poverty in Colombia, Nicaragua, & Ecuador. Our focus on cultural immersion, education, and social venture is where volunteers gain substantial growth in rewriting the future of these children. The interactive workshops curriculum empowers children with topics like character development, self-care, and leadership that infuses volunteers with knowledge about new cultures and the living habits of the population along with the passion to bring their experiences back to their home communities and spread awareness. 2016 Service trips are offered in the Spring and Summer with affordable prices ranging from about $1,215.00 to $1,800.00. Bound for Peace strives to continue the mission of CBOB with hands on experience in the areas we serve.
substantial growth in rewriting the future of these children.
IAMCBOB
IAMCBOB is our scholarship program for students who wish to attend college. Students who demonstrate a strong desire to acquire a higher level of education, we provide an all-expenses paid ride to college. These students must be motivated to work to their best and fullest capacity while in school and to also give back to their communities by participating in civic engagement activities.
Contributing to the I am CBOB scholarship program provides motivated students an all expenses paid college education, and in exchange they act as service leaders to empower other youth to solve problems in their own communities.
As the country with one of the highest internal displacement rates in the world, Colombia is marred by horrible social injustices every day. Your contributions are not merely monetary, they are signals of hope. By contributing any amount, you are sending the message to these youth that they matter... that they are cared for. You are motivating them to become better citizens to their community and better ambassadors of education.
There are endless testimonials from our children filled with words of gratitude, optimism and happiness. Words that no longer express hope but determination. They have wished and hoped for a helping hand and support system to help knock down those obstacles of social injustice, poverty and internal displacement that one day held them from even considering becoming leaders and professionals. Now they have an even stronger voice and will to fight for what they and every child deserves; a proper education. Children Within Our Borders
Children Within Our Borders takes the mission of CBOB and brings it back to local communities with at risk youth affected by social injustices and poverty. Essentially, Children Within Our Borders takes our three main objectives from the Bound for Peace service program and utilizes these concepts to help children thrive to be the best version of themselves. We believe that stimulating workshops, vital life skills, and tutoring can grant proper stability to a child and allow a future that breaks all boundaries, and most importantly, restrictive borders. In our CWOB program, we also provided 4 Health Fair per year in the city of Alachua, Florida in partnership with Equal Access Clinics. In Orlando, our UCF CBOB Chapter holds tutoring session three times a week and works with UCF Medical School to provide educational workshops for their clinics.
Student Chapters
Children Beyond Our Borders Inc. has four student chapters located at state universities across Florida. Student chapters include a student executive board and members who work to raise awareness about social injustice, displacement, and poverty surrounding children in other communities. These chapters also bring together college students who share similar interests in sustaining youth, service, nonprofit management, peace relations, and Latin American countries. Students aim to fundraise for projects and service trips offered by CBOB’s other program Bound for Peace. Currently, there are three active chapters at the University of Central Florida, University of Florida, and Florida State University. Children Beyond Our Borders is working to finalize our institution of the fourth student chapter at Florida International University.
Volunteer Internship Program (VIP)
The Volunteer Internship program invites volunteers to get hands on experience with Children Beyond Our Borders to help change the life of a child. Volunteers are encouraged through our various positions to apply their practical experience and implement life skills for a passionate experience. Our goals include networking, hands on experience, and valuable life skills for the future. It is through our internship program that students and volunteers can learn about various career fields such as Public Relations, Community Outreach, Grant writing, Graphic Design and many others. By participating in the VIP program volunteers can gain practical experience and apply your academic skills to a real-world job in the non-profit field.
