What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Momentum
EPIC Academy, founded in 2009 in South Chicago, sets itself apart with innovative college and career programs. Our unique approach includes four years of College and Career Skills (CCS) courses, guided by the EPIC Way framework, empowering students to become explorers, prepared for college and careers, and community leaders. CCS facilitates self-discovery, college and career research, in-person experiences, and support to help them prepare for post-secondary success. Our signature programs promote career-connected learning, expose students to various career fields and professionals, and challenge them to develop essential hard and soft skills through real-world projects they work on collaboratively with their peers, workplace visits, and paid summer internships with EPIC Academy partners from various industries. These programs ensure students are empowered to choose their best-fit pathway and equipped with the skills and resources for a thriving future with a sustainable income.
Freshman Strong Start
Incoming freshmen participate in a week-long program that acclimates them to high school. The week starts in the school, where students meet teachers and staff, familiarize themself with the school building, and learn about school culture and expectations. Students then participate in a three-day retreat at an out-of-state campsite where they engage in activities that build relationships with peers and staff and develop essential social-emotional competencies that prepare them for success. The trip culminates with a preview of life after EPIC, where students visit a college campus to begin their exposure to potential post-secondary options.
