What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
The primary purpose of the American Tall Ship Institute is to provide a marine based educational facility, or floating classroom, to be used by various organizations in the Ventura County area for marine education programs. The American Tall Ship Institute is currently working with local educational institutions to cooperatively develop marine education programs for a tall ship sailing vessel focusing on the maritime region in and around the Channel Islands of California. The vessel will provide a versatile platform able to accommodate a variety of programs from many diverse organizations. Educational programs currently in development include marine biology, environmental studies and maritime history, as well as sail training programs designed to teach and encourage a spirit of cooperation and discipline, highlighting the importance of team building, problem solving, decision making, planning, self-reliance and leadershiskills and attitudes needed to live healthy, productive lives.
