Supporting Saving Children with Cancer Project

Ayudame a Vivir Foundation, Inc. has established a collaboration agreement with Fundación Ayúdame a Vivir (AYUVI) to support children with cancer in Guatemala, currently served at the Saving Children with Cancer Project.

AYUVI was established in the year 1997. It provides a comprehensive treatment at NO COST tailored to each family´s needs. This psychosocial approach includes: medicines, hospitalization, social work, parental education, child-life program, psychological attention, nutritional advising, shelter, transportation stipends, groceries, funerary services, spiritual & support therapies, and palliative & hospice care. Up to June (2020) 9,267 children have been attended, 7,249 children have been diagnosed and 3,221 are now free of this disease.

AYUVI established a public- private alliance with UNOP- National Pediatric Oncology Unit-the only hospital specialized in pediatric cancer in Guatemala. AYUVI fundraises and provides all required resources for the operation, maintenance, and growth of UNOP. AYUVI also supports an ambulatory clinic located in Xela, Quetzaltenango which serves patients from the Western Highlands, and the AYUVI- Estuardo Mini Hospice located in the outskirts of Guatemala City.

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

Our hospital is operating at 100% occupancy every month. We still need to reach the other 50% of Guatemalan pediatric population that still aren't being helped.

We raise funds for children who develop cancer in Guatemala so that they can receive a holistic treatment at no cost.

AYUVI collects and provides the necessary resources for UNOP to function, which is the only highly specialized center for pediatric cancer treatment in Guatemala and helps children and teenagers from all over the Country. We also provide a comprehensive treatment which includes the following services:
- social work
-Psychology
-Parents training
-Spiritual support
- Nutrition
-Supportive therapies
-Hospital Game
-Palliative medicine and hospice
Additionally, we have an abandonment program which includes the following:
-Funeral services
-Food bags
- Hostel
-Transport
This in order to keep patients with constant care and treatment for this disease.

Holistic treatment at no cost to patients and their families.
