The Arc of New Jersey is a human rights advocacy organization actively committed to full community participation and inclusion across the lifespan for all individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Arc of New Jersey is an affiliated chapter of The Arc of the United States(http://www.thearc.org) , and community-based services are available statewide through a strong network of local county chapters(http://digital-community.com/demo/arcnj.org/about/local_chapters.html) .

The Arc of NJ Family Institute

The Family Institute works to provide information, support and advocacy to family members of children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Population(s) Served

The Mainstreaming Medical Program advocates to ensure that children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities have equal access to quality medical, dental and mental health care.

Project HIRE is The Arc of New Jersey's award-winng, CARF-accredited supported employment and school-to-work transition program. Employment Development Specialists support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in securing fair-wage community-based employment and Employment Training Specialists provide on-the-job training and ongoing support to ensure long-term stability in employment. Project HIRE also provides transition services to high school students with disabilities to ensure a smooth transition from school to adult employment.

Population(s) Served

The Criminal Justice Advocacy Program (CJAP) provides alternatives to incarceration on behalf of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities who are defendants in the criminal justice system. The CJAP also serves as a clearinghouse of information regarding offenders with disabilities and serves as a liaison between the criminal justice and human service systems as offenders with disabilities move between the two.
