What we aim to solve

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

The biggest issue we currently are attempting to address is raising funds and establishing a general scholarship endowment in support of the students at the College. We have approximately 300 endowed and another 125 or so scholarships that have been established over the past 40 years and are designated based on the narrow interests of donors. While these are beneficial, we need an endowment that will support the general scholarship program for the institution. Currently, these funds are taken out of the annual college budget, which is not a sustainable model given the public higher education climate in 2019.

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

We anticipate that the major priority of our next Comprehensive Campaign will be to get this general scholarship endowment in place and funded through current and planned gifts. We are looking at significant planned gifts to get this in place – knowing we may not see the funds for decades, but will have them when we need them down the road – and hoping that these will inspire current gifts.

Our Foundation Board of Directors is fully committed to solving this issue and we will be asking every one of them to support this with current and planned gifts. We see their leadership as the key motivator behind making this a reality.

Our Board is strong and committed and provided better than 10% of the dollars raised and pledged in our most recent Campaign (which concluded in 2015). We have grown the Board since then, with several strong new members, all capable of supporting this effort.

We have had preliminary meetings with our Board to discuss our plan going forward. They understand the importance of this initiative and our fully invested with what we need to do.
