What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Gloria Saker Women's Heart Program

Women often ignore symptoms or health problems—putting family and “To Do” lists before themselves. But some things can’t be ignored.

Heart disease is the number-one killer of women in America. That’s why CentraState offers cardiac care designed especially for women—from prevention to treatment.

Located in CentraState’s Star and Barry Tobias Ambulatory Campus, the Gloria Saker Women’s Heart Program at Centrastate was created to identify women at risk for cardiovascular disease and help tem modify preventable risk factors.

Developed and managed by women, the Women’s Heart Program at CentraState provides comprehensive cardiac services—cardiologists and cardiac nurses who specialize in women’s heart disease, in-depth cardiac evaluations, individualized treatment plans and an accredited cardiac rehabilitation center. Plus, to help prevent cardiovascular disease—health, wellness and fitness programs customized just for you.

So you can take care of your family. And we can take care of your heart.

Pay attention to these cardiovascular disease risk factors in women:

Diabetes
Chronic kidney disease
Metabolic syndrome
Strong family history of coronary artery disease
Hypertension, with a systolic blood pressure above 120
Body mass index higher than 25

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic, debilitating disease of the central nervous system. The symptoms of MS can range from mild—producing little or no disability—to severe—leading to substantial disability, sometimes quickly. The unpredictable physical and emotional effect can be life-long, but effective treatment can help manage symptoms and change the course of the disease.

The Linda E. Cardinale MS Center at CentraState was created to help improve the quality of life for people with multiple sclerosis and their families in the tri-state region. We provide comprehensive, high-quality care through accurate diagnosis, education, the establishment of appropriate care plans, and individualized treatment, with a special emphasis on various support systems.

Mobility and function are among the key indicators of good health across the lifespan. If you notice you’re having any issues with movement or functioning, you may benefit from an evaluation with CentraState’s Movement Disorder Program. This multidisciplinary program is designed to detect and manage any neurodegenerative issues early, when treatment is most effective.

The Movement Disorder Program is led by Jia Zhen Cheng, MD, a board-certified neurologist who is fellowship-trained in movement disorders, in collaboration with skilled therapists at CentraState’s OceanFirst Rehabilitation Center and various other medical specialties. Together, they focus on optimal functioning and well-being for the body and mind.
