What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Program Overview
Alzheimer’s New Jersey provides information, assistance and support for those with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias, as well as for their family members, caregivers and healthcare professionals. Our programs include a helpline, care consultation, support groups, respite care assistance, education and training programs and more.
Family Suport Groups
Support groups provide families and caregivers with the emotional support and education they need to better understand Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. Support groups are designed for families and friends.
Respite Care and Wellness Program
The Respite Care and Wellness program is designed to provide family caregivers with information and education about the importance of regular time-off from caregiving, and help link them to available community-based respite care resources. We also provide a financial scholarship of $1,000 to help support the cost of respite care services.
Care Consultations
Care Consultations offer the opportunity for individuals with dementia, families and caregivers to receive personalized, in-depth guidance. Consultations are available in-person or by phone to assist with planning, problem solving, referrals to community resources and emotional support.

Individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia are at a greater risk for personal safety issues due to their impairment in memory and cognition. Always Safe provides individuals and families with educational information and resources about home and personal safety and provides professional education and training about Alzheimer’s and dementia to New Jersey law enforcement and emergency first responders.

Community Education Programs
Education and training is a priority community service for Alzheimer’s New Jersey. Education is essential to Alzheimer’s caregivers in carrying out their responsibilities. Caregivers often share that they would be less stressed and better able to cope with the many challenges of caregiving if they better understood the disease and its progression; particularly as this relates to the changes in behavior and communication that are often exhibited by those with Alzheimer’s. Our education programs are designed to increase caregiver knowledge of the disease, diagnosis, communication within the healthcare system, available local services, and caregiving strategies.
