Transform lives, one wish at a time
Programs and results
What we aim to solve
Each year, thousands of children are diagnosed with critical illnesses. While quality medical care plays a huge role in a child's health outcome, emotional wellbeing can't be overlooked. Anxiety, depression, and stress can overwhelm families as they try to juggle the needs of an ill child while trying to maintain a "normal" life.
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Make-A-Wish Foundation of Connecticut
Granting wishes of children with life threatening medical conditions.
Wish Granting
We grant the wishes of children with critical illnesses. Eligible children between the ages of 2.5 and 17 years old can be referred by a member of their medical team, their immediate families, or they can refer themselves. After being approved for a wish, families are matched with a pair of wish granters who help children create their one-true-wish.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
We believe that wishes change the odds for kids fighting critical illnesses. They help wish kids look past their limitations, families overcome anxiety, and unite entire communities. Most importantly, wishes can improve a child's quality of life, giving them a better chance of recovering. Our goal is to bring hope and strength to Connecticut by granting the wish of every eligible child in our state.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
To meet our goal of granting the wish of every eligible child, we rely on a vast network of referral partners, dedicated volunteers, generous community partners, and passionate donors.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
Thanks to strong stewardship of funds received, we currently have the means to grant the wish of every referred child.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
In our 2022 fiscal year, we granted 185 wishes due to COVID. In the year ahead, we plan to get back to pre-pandemic wishes granted and deepen the impact of wish journey's by continuing to personalize experiences to meet the unique needs of each family.
