Forest and farmland conservation and stewardship
Valley Land Fund's efforts are centered on direct land conservation projects, carried out alone or in partnership with landowner negotiation, and pre-acquisitions for state conservation agencies. VLF has protected land in 43 of the 69 towns of Hampshire, Franklin, and Hampden Counties of Western Massachusetts. The Fund also fosters cooperation among land trusts and agencies through regional meetings and landowner workshops, and provides guidance to local land trusts. Thanks to the extensive experience of its volunteer board of directors and its reputation for efficiency, cooperation, and expertise, VLF has become the 'first stop' for towns, landowners, and citizens seeking land protection in the Connecticut Valley.
