Philly Earth
Philly Earth is an Education and Demonstration Center sponsored by The Village of Arts and Humanities(http://www.villagearts.org/) . Philly Earth teaches kids how to care for the Earth, starting with their local communities, by providing educational programs in Permaculture(http://thecreativevillagephilly.com/events/) , Appropriate Technologies(http://thecreativevillagephilly.com/events/) , and Environmental Sustainability.
Learning Through the Arts
Award-winning educational initiative, Learning Through the Arts, combines two powerful learning tools, fun and art, to create three powerful community outreach program free of charge to 2,000 youth and families annually, meriting worldwide accolades. Learning Through the Arts is a multi-faceted program offering after-school and summer programs for youth ages 13 to 19. Having been a founding initiative of the Village, Learning Through the Arts remains integral, to both the residents and the organization in reaching the community through its work and close connection to the youth living in the neighborhood.
Building Through the Arts
The Village of Arts and Humanities is recognized for excellence in urban place making, through it work in transforming vacant land into and oasis of communal parks and gardens with mosaics, sculptures, and edible produce. Through its partnership with the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society, The Village employs seven community residents to steward 140 parcels of vacant land.
Shared Prosperity
The Village is a lead partner in a consortium of community organizations that seeks to improve quality of life of residents in North Philadelphia through economic development, affordable housing, workforce training, and youth programming.
Youth Summer Arts Camp
At The Village’s summer camp, children have a blast with activities ranging from lunches in the park, movie days, trips to local museums, as well as indoor and outdoor playtime. Children tap into their creativity with arts and crafts projects, dance class and creative writing workshops. Under the supervision of our experienced and caring staff, children continue learning during the summer while having fun and meeting new friends.
