What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Pedals for Progress collects no-longer-wanted but serviceable used bicycles in the eastern United States, in cooperation with local community service organizations, for distribution internationally, with the twin purposes of reducing the waste of a potentially valuable resource (and its impact on U.S. landfills), and putting it to good use overseas helping needy people become more productive. In support of this activity, Pedals for Progress also accepts donations of new and used spare parts and accessories from U.S. distributors and the public. Pedals for Progress donates all product received to carefully-selected overseas private non-profit agencies demonstrating a track record of competent, committed community service. At home, Pedals for Progress provides a rewarding, tangible service opportunity to those individuals and institutions interested in reducing waste and promoting international development assistance.
