Gift of Life Marrow Registry
Curing blood cancer through marrow and stem cell donation.
Programs and results
What we aim to solve
Tissue type is inherited, like eye or hair color. The best chance of finding a match for a patient in need is those of similar ethnic ancestry. The global registry is not representative of donors of diverse backgrounds. Gift of Life strives to increase the diversity of the registry through strategic recruitment initiatives so that one day all patients will have an equal opportunity to find a donor and receive the transplant they need.
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Marrow Donor Program
Registration drives are conducted to tissue type volunteer bone marrow donors and enroll them into the public registry. This is performed as a community service without charge to the donors. Gift of Life serves as a liaison between the donor, collection center and transplant center, providing case management services including all logistics involved in donor confirmatory testing, workup, harvest and follow-up.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Gift of Life's goal is to help every patient have an equal opportunity to receive the cellular therapy that can save their lives.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
Gift of Life strategies include the following: (1) Growing the registry with diverse, well characterized, high availability donors; (2) Shortening the time to transplant with our new Stem Cell Collection Center and future BioBank; (3) Provide donor cells for use in immunotherapy.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
Gift of Life has developed a proprietary computer system called MatchQuest(R) which manages the entire recruitment and retention process, among other functions. Additionally, Gift of Life staff are trained carefully and competency is reviewed on an ongoing basis. This makes recruitment and retention as efficient and effective as possible. Gift of Life has control over the supply chain from recruitment to provision of cellular products, which enables us to have a streamlined, integrated program, control over quality and ability to meet transplant center timelines.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
Although we have come a long way, not every patient can find the match they need when they need one. Our vision is a match for every patient in need.
