Mission
Hopkinton’s Education Foundation provides funding, ideas, professional development and other resources to educators so they can promote innovation that motivates students to become lifelong learners. We accomplish our mission by partnering with: -Hopkinton Public School staff in their efforts to obtain and implement ideas that encourage excellence through creative learning; -Businesses, individuals, and other organizations for funding that will promote awareness of the Education Foundation’s mission, vision, goals, and successes. The Education Foundation’s vision is to be the primary independent catalyst that energizes Hopkinton Public School educators to deliver innovative educational experiences that inspire students to strive for excellence and become lifelong learners.

What we aim to solve
Limited public funds necessitate difficult budgeting decisions for the School Committee of the Hopkinton School District. The Hopkinton Education Foundation seeks to supplement the school system’s budget, giving Hopkinton citizens and businesses a way to participate in enhancing opportunities within the schools for the town’s students. The Education Foundation’s vision is to be the primary independent catalyst that energizes Hopkinton Public School educators to deliver innovative educational experiences that inspire students to explore and become lifelong learners.

HEF Grants
The Hopkinton Education Foundation has awarded nearly $1.5 million to Hopkinton teachers and administrators to help them implement innovative programs in the classroom that motivates students to become lifelong learners.

What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
The goals of the Hopkinton Education Foundation are as follows:
- To raise awareness within the Hopkinton community about the mission of the Education Foundation
- To raise a minimum of $50,000 per academic year
- To inspire administrators and educators within the Hopkinton Public Schools to write grants requesting funds for innovative educational programs and opportunities
- To disburse funds to support grants that meet the criteria of our mission and vision
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
The strategies the Hopkinton Education Foundation uses to reach its goals are as follows:
- Raising awareness
+ Attend Back-to-School Nights
+ Co-sponsor Top of the Hill with the HPTA
+ Participate in community events
- Raising funds
+ Individual fundraising
* Thank-a-Teacher program: In December and June, families donate in honor of teachers, who then receive personalized cards letting them know a gift has been made in their name and includes the child and/or family’s name

* Local businesses

* The Boston Globe grant voucher
* United Way campaign
* Matching gifts

* Annual Gala and Auction
* Trivia Night
* Golf Ball Drop

- Soliciting grant applications
+ Two board members appointed as liaisons to each school in the district
+ Work closely with administrators and educators
- Disbursing grant funds
+ Grant Committee meets multiple times each grant cycle to evaluate grant proposals and select grants to be funded
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
The Hopkinton Education Foundation has a dedicated volunteer board comprised of members from the Hopkinton community. It is organized into committees, including Grants, Events, Fundraising, Communications, and Operations & Governance. The Education Foundation has full support of the school district, from the educators to the administrators and the superintendent.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
In 26 years, the Hopkinton Education Foundation has provided more than $1,300,000 in funding for more than 335 grants, impacting thousands of students in the Hopkinton School District and our mission continues to be the same. By continually fostering new and innovative ideas every year through pilot programs, we help in closing opportunity gaps and advancing education to higher levels.
