Programs and results
What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Our High School Town-First Civics program takes a hometown-first and legal rights-based approach to civic education that teaches students the value of civic engagement in a local environment where "in contrast to national or state level government" meaningful civic participation is easier and where the results of participation can more readily be seen. By focusing on legal rights, political power centers and citizen's points of access, Empowerment Civics takes the mystery out of political decision making and provides high school students with the political skills and techniques they need to influence local government institutions. Our Civic Renovation program provides disengaged and politically disenfranchised citizens with knowledge, opportunities, tools and techniques to effectively access and engage in community decision making. Community members are trained to assess the civic health of their community and renovate civic infrastructure using model laws and ordinances.
Solutions Civics
Development and implementation of a participatory civics curriculum for high schools across the country.
