Mission

The mission of the American Institute for Roman Culture is to engage and inspire everyone with Rome’s cultural heritage through public outreach and free educational resources (courses, videos, social media, etc.), including our multi-disciplinary learning hub, Ancient Rome Live. We believe it’s important to investigate the past to encourage curiosity, critical thinking, and lifelong learning. Our content is produced on location and is deeply contextualized thanks to strong relationships with the caretakers of Rome’s legacy.

What we aim to solve

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

Learners (from high school to life-long students of history) lack engaging, visual content from experts and authorities of Rome's past. This is a critical shortcoming, since understanding Rome’s rich history and culture is essential to understanding today’s complex world and building a better world for the future. The American Institute for Roman Culture and its learning platform Ancient Rome Live fulfill this need by creating accessible content by experts on location (in Rome and throughout the Empire) daily on a variety of social media platforms. These scholars and professionals bring alive the material so that it is freely comprehensible to all.
