Mission

Founded in 1948, Allegheny Lutheran Social Ministries (ALSM) is the affiliate social ministry organization of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), Allegheny Synod. ALSM provides compassionate care to more than 2,000 families each year from pregnant women to the elderly by focusing on their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. ALSM has a commitment to charitable care and provides agency-subsidized care to those who are the most in need of services, yet do not have the money to pay. As a responsible ministry of the Church and vital provider of services in our communities, we are continually responsive to the needs of families. Yesterday, today, and tomorrow -- regardless of the services provided -- ALSM will have a purpose. Simply put, "to serve people through a ministry of love, compassion, and mercy in the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ."
