WHYY-FM’s news and information format offers the Philadelphia region a comprehensive radio service. WHYY-FM has a well-deserved reputation as a trusted source of news and information, combining such NPR programs as Morning Edition and All Things Considered with reports from WHYY’s local news team.

WHYY is also the producer of Fresh Air with Terry Gross, covering the popular culture and public affairs and heard by about 6 million people each week on 600 public radio stations; The Why, a podcast and radio program that presents an in-depth look at one major story each day; Radio Times, a thought-provoking, engaging and timely program that tackles issues of concern in the Philadelphia region and beyond; and The Pulse, stories at the heart of health, science and innovation.

WHYY.org features one of the Philadelphia region’s leading online news services. WHYY also leads the collaborative Keystone Crossroads multimedia reporting project and is the home of PlanPhilly.org.

All of WHYY’s audio programming is also available on WHYY.org as streaming content, podcasts or special Web-only features. The original podcast Eleanor Amplified has become one of the nation’s most popular family and children’s podcasts.

Lifelong learning has always been at the core of WHYY’s mission. The Dorrance H. Hamilton Public Media Commons puts state-of-the-art equipment into hands of teens, teachers and adults of all ages and instructs them in audio and video production, shooting and lighting techniques, sound recording and digital editing. More than 10,000 students have been served through this effort.

More than 75 annual public events feature advance screenings, interviews with media personalities and discussions of important issues.
