What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Community Issues
Founded in 1918, Philadelphia Foundation strengthens the economic, social and civic vitality of Greater Philadelphia. The Philadelphia Foundation grows effective philanthropic investment, connects individuals and institutions across sectors and geography, and advances civic initiatives through partnerships and collaboration. A publicly supported foundation, the Philadelphia Foundation manages more than 1,100 charitable funds established by its donors and makes over 1,000 grants and scholarship awards each year. The Fund for Children
Thanks to contributions from the Philadelphia Eagles football and the
Philadelphia Phillies baseball teams, The Philadelphia Foundation established
the Fund for Children. The $2-million annual investment supports programs aimed
at improving the quality of life for the children of Philadelphia.
Discretionary Grantmaking
The Philadelphia Foundation works with a variety of
nonprofits to improve their organizational effectiveness through investment in
business and management practices that enable organizations to better meet their
missions. The Foundation provides general operating support to regional
nonprofit organizations serving vulnerable individuals and communities. To that
end, the foundation gives priority to nonprofits with operating budgets less
than 5 million dollars, serving those who are disconnected, disenfranchised,
disempowered and underrepresented.
