What we aim to solve

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

Imagine that your community is dying from a devastating illness. You have the cure in your hands, yet it’s written in a language that is unintelligible to you, and there’s no access to a translator or technology to help you understand the cure. Imagine your anguish and frustration. For millions of people who are oral communicators by necessity or preference, that’s what it’s like when their only access to God’s Word is a print Bible in a language they don’t know, or can’t read. They need God’s Word because it is life and hope; yet the Bible remains hidden and inaccessible. Since 1967, Audio Scripture Ministries (then known as Portable Recording Ministries International) has focused on reaching oral communicators with the Good News of Jesus. We believe that every person has a need, and a right, to hear God’s Word in a culturally and contextually-appropriate language and format. Millions are still waiting to hear the Good News, and we should not wait to share it. Now is the time.

Recording and Distributing God's Word in Audio

Audio Scripture Ministries (ASM) helps connect people to God's Word in their own heart language by recording and distributing audio Bibles and Bible engagement resources.

ASM finds native speakers of a language and records them reading Scripture in their heart language—for the many people still waiting to hear God’s Word.

ASM also connects and equips networks of nationals, audio technicians, churches, missionaries, and others with the tools, training, and resources to reach those who can't, don't, or won't read.

ASM directly distributes audio Scriptures in Mexico and Mozambique, and works with hundreds of partners worldwide to bring God's Word where it is most needed.

In Mozambique, ASM also has distributes God's Word through integral mission programs, such as the Compassionate Care program, in which a local team is trained and equipped to bring palliative care to people otherwise living without health care options. The team addresses social, physical, spiritual and psychological issues while bringing audio Scripture materials to bring the hope and healing of the Gospel to those nearing the end of life. In 2018, New Harvest Farm was established to provide agricultural training in a program called "Farming with God," with the goal of bringing a new harvest, physically and spiritually. Addressing the issue of community food security has opened new doors for God's Word to take root in many lives.

Goals & Strategy

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

ASM goals are to:

1) Produce audio recordings of the Bible in each language needed by people groups around the world, especially where many cannot read.

2) Distribute these Scripture recordings, either directly or through other ministries, to those desiring to listen.

3) Encourage an active, cooperative team effort among all Christian organizations to focus on the goal of providing God's Word in audio form wherever needed, including in the contexts of church ministry, evangelism, and integral mission.

4) Assist this effort by making the needed training and tools available to multiply effective Gospel ministry.

5) Cooperate with existing local churches and mission organizations to encourage and assist follow-up and continued Christian growth among all who respond to God's Word, including through ASM-led integral mission programs.

EXPLORE: New Partnerships; New Regions; New Resources; New Technology.
EXPAND: Prayer Support; Collaboration; Audio Library; Donor Base.
EMPOWER: National Leaders; National Ministries.
EXTEND: The Reach of God’s Word.

ASM has teams in Mexico and Mozambique actively recording and distributing the Bible where it is needed.

We work closely with trusted networks of national partners and churches to record, place or distribute audio Bibles, and share God's Word where it is most needed. Our teams are prayerfully considering new opportunities, resources, and tools to do so even more strategically.

ASM ministers from the foundation of collaboration and Gospel-partnership: alongside faithful prayer partners, donors, volunteers, and distribution partners. Together, we can help connect more people to the Bible in audio.

We praise God for every prayer, financial, and distribution partner! We pray for the Lord to send more laborers into His harvest field, to bring the hope of the Gospel of Jesus through audio Scripture, to the millions of people who are still waiting to hear!

EXPLORING:
Despite COVID-19, God opened doors for ASM to explore partnerships in several new regions with dozens of like-minded individuals, churches and ministries, so that more people will have access to God’s Word. God is opening new doors, and we’re prayerfully following Him.

EXPANDING:
Prayer: We recognize the importance of our prayer partners, and keep them updated with monthly printed prayer guides and weekly emails. Collaboration: We praise God for many new partners in the last year, in Haiti, Greater South Asia, Kenya, Uganda, Mozambique, Mexico, and elsewhere.
Audio Library: We celebrated 17 new Bible recordings completed last year. Please pray for the 10+ new recordings already planned for 2022!

EMPOWERING:
ASM serves local Christian leaders passionate about reaching their communities by providing recording equipment, audio Bibles, and other assistance so more people can hear God’s Word. Praise God for the 7,810 audio Bibles sent out in 117 languages this year through our Gospel partners. We’ve continued building relationships with national leaders in many countries to assist in recording and distributing in new areas in 2022. We are asking God for the funding needed to effectively help these leaders get God’s Word into the hands of those who can’t, don’t, or won’t read.

EXTENDING THE REACH OF GOD'S WORD:
Praise God that nearly 100,000 more people are now hearing and sharing the Bible in their own heart language this year because of the generosity of ASM donors and collaborative partnerships! Hundreds of pastors are better equipped to teach because they can hear the Bible in their language. God-willing, this time next year, thousands more will know the joy and hope of Jesus Christ through the new recordings and audio Bibles distributed next year. Together, let’s extend the reach of God’s Word, to His glory!
