UNITED STATES MARINES YOUTH FOUNDATION INC
“The Solution to a Drug—Free America”™
Programs and results
What we aim to solve
Our primary aim is to provide school-aged students an alternative to drugs and alcohol through youth physical fitness programs and through recognition of both physical fitness skills and musical arts skills. It has been proven that students who participate in Physical activities as well as participate in programs of the Arts, i.e. Band, Choral, and Music develop self-esteem and self-respect and are less likely to fall to the many temptations facing our youth of today.

Goals & Strategy
Learn about the organization's key goals, strategies, capabilities, and progress.
Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Self-respect and self-esteem are the most important things we can give our young people--- the National Youth Physical Fitness Program (YPF) gives them both. The YPF program encompasses students from kindergarten and elementary school through junior and senior high school. It teaches students to respect their bodies and helps them build and maintain a personal resistance to drugs, alcohol and tobacco.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
The YPF program is easily incorporated into all schools from inner city to rural, from underprivileged to affluent. The program has been designed to provide optimum benefit with a minimum requirement of time, space and equipment. Instructors are given the flexibility of modified exercises to meet the needs of students who are physically or mentally challenged, overweight or underdeveloped. Instructors are encouraged to tailor the program to the needs of individual students. The objective of this program is to enable ALL students to participate and earn certificates.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
The organization is supported by the United States Marine Corps and the Marine Corps League; individual Detachments as well as Departments (States) have organized Youth Physical Fitness Programs. Through the support of Headquarters Marine Corps and the Marine Corps Junior ROTC program and through the support of the Marine Corps League, we are able to provide a well maintained and properly supervised program that supports thousands of students across the United States. The role of the United States Marines Youth Foundation is to financially support the Youth Physical Fitness program so that the Marine Corps League as well as many schools, coaches and parents who voluntarily run the Youth Physical Fitness program have certificates, awards and t-shirts provided to them.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
We are determined to have active Youth Physical Fitness program located in every State.
