What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Non-Communicable Diseases

NCDs include diseases of lifestyle (i.e. diabetes, women’s cancers, and childhood obesity) that often progress and become chronic. These diseases frequently occur together and exacerbate each other, negatively impacting health. The Foundation includes reproductive health in this category because it is of critical importance in the Americas and has initiated work in adolescent health to address teen pregnancy and related behavior issues.

Population(s) Served

Communicable diseases which are infectious diseases transmissible by direct contact with an infected individual or the individual’s discharges or by indirect means. Within this category, the Foundation focuses on vector-borne diseases, such as dengue, chikungunya, and Zika. The Foundation also addresses AMR, an issue that has been recognized by the highest levels of international government as a major global health threat; and is also engaged in work that involves building capacity for rapid surveillance, diagnostics, and reporting for outbreaks, such as cholera.

Population(s) Served

Health systems strengthening is the Foundation’s third focus area. The Foundation has determined that addressing women’s health and wellness is a viable gateway for improving health systems for all. Within this category, the Foundation also addresses workplace wellness as a strategy for improving both employee and enterprise health and productivity.
