What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Program 1
Part of a worldwide educational movement, our Council achieves its purpose through our hostels and educational programs, building bridges between people of varying backgrounds, encouraging a conservation ethic, and promoting world peace and intercultural understanding The Golden Gate Council operates 8 hostels in Northern California, including three in San Francisco, and several educational programs for hostel guests and the local community Offering far more than just a "cheap sleep."
Program 2
Hostel Adventures programming (HAP) uses our coastal and city hostels as a base for exploration and education about the natural world, intercultural exchange, cultural understanding through cuisine, and self-expression about one's heritage and community More than 2,000 young people participated in these programs, many of whom came from inner city schools and non-profit agencies A Hostelship Fund, provided by private donations, ensures that the neediest of groups can participate
Program 3
Our vision Our communities will be enhanced by the presence of our hostels, programs, and visitors from around the world Hostellers' lives will be enriched by their hostelling experience, contributing to the spread of world peace, environmental stewardship, and international understanding throughout the world
