Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Program 1
AISJ supported education reform work in California and New York. In particular, AISJ supported work on the issue of collecting and using comprehensive data systems to improve teaching and learning at the state and local levels. AISJ's funding supported the development of a strong base of parent leaders who understand and embrace the importance of a comprehensive data system, and who have become effective spokespeople for action on this issue.
Program 2
Leadership Development and Community Organizing. In 2009, AISJ supported programs which helped low and moderate income families to have a voice in their neighborhoods. Individuals from these communities were given leadership training on issues affecting their neighborhoods including code enforcement, city budgets, state budgets, foreclosure prevention, jobs programs, affordable housing, emergency preparedness and other issues.
Program 3
In 2009, AISJ provided support to programs providing Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) services to low and moderate income families. As part of this programs, families were assisted in getting the Earned Income Tax Credit.
