Main Stage symphony concerts

One of the components of the New Britain Symphony Orchestra mission is to perpetuate the rich tradition of live symphonic music by presenting concerts of a high caliber performed by a professional orchestra.

We present 2 to 3 main stage concerts per season, performed at the 1800 seat Welte Hall at Central Connecticut State University in New Britain, CT. Our orchestra consists of approximately 70 musicians, led by a professional conductor and featuring selected guest artists.

Population(s) Served

One of the most important missions of the New Britain Symphony is to provide education and enrichment activities to contribute to the quality of life for people of all ages. We do this through three programs:

1. Our annual Young People's Concert
This concert is performed free of charge for the benefit of our fifth graders, welcoming them to what we look forward to as a continued venture in beautiful music during their lives. We have performed this concert annually for 22 years, for over 1500 fifth graders from 5 area towns.

2. Scholarship
The Helen Kilduff- Elizabeth Elia Scholarship one thousand dollar ($1,000.00) scholarship, awarded annually to a high school senior from New Britain, Berlin, Plainville, or Newington, CT who displays outstanding musical proficiency and has been accepted by an institution of higher learning to major in music.

3. Free Concerts
These support our community outreach efforts by providing free concerts performed by New Britain Symphony Orchestra Ensembles. We perform at area community venues such as libraries and art museums where people of all ages can be introduced to the various ensembles of instruments in an intimate, familiar setting.
