Dare to Create a More Perfect Union
ACLU Fund of Michigan works daily in the courts & communities to defend & preserve the individual rights & liberties that the Constitution & laws of the United States guarantees all people in Michigan. The ACLU dares to create a more perfect union – beyond one person, party, or side. Our staff work to protect & advance voting rights and democracy, reproductive freedom, racial justice, criminal legal system reform, due process, immigrant rights, LGBTQ rights, freedom of speech, privacy, & religious liberty. We place special emphasis on protecting the rights of marginalized communities – people of color, LGBTQ people, indigent people, & immigrants. We accomplish our goals through integrated advocacy, a powerful combination of impact litigation, non-partisan advocacy, strategic communications, & organizing. Our legal program has between 50 & 60 cases in the courts each year, and, in 2022-2023, ACLU of Michigan volunteer attorneys donated nearly $5,000,000 in pro bono hours.

- We review compensation data across the organization (and by staff levels) to identify disparities by race.
- We employ non-traditional ways of gathering feedback on programs and trainings, which may include interviews, roundtables, and external reviews with/by community stakeholders.
