Programs and results
What we aim to solve
The Humane Society of Sedona (HSS) needs to maximize our Shelter’s ability to support overcrowded shelters who are at risk of euthanizing healthy and treatable animals while we continue to provide the highest level of adoption care and services to our local community. HSS utilizes a managed intake process where admission to the shelter is scheduled based on the capacity to provide care and a live outcome for all healthy and treatable animals in our community regardless of age, treatable health or treatable behavior condition.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
HSS utilizes a managed intake process where admission to the shelter is scheduled based on the capacity to provide care and a live outcome for all healthy and treatable animals in our community regardless of age, treatable health or treatable behavior condition.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
We are exploring ways to off-set the costs of adding two part-time Shelter staff to assist our Operations Director on-site; one position would provide support in sourcing and transporting in animals and another position would provide support for incoming animals. The addition of 145 or more animals/year means that spay/neuter and medical care expenses increase. Funding sources from outside of our local donors have been applied for and we hope they will come through so we can assist in saving even more animals!
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
Due to our Operations Director moving on, we are in the process of re-evaluating the Animal Care support team, so may be able to achieve the goal without a large input of funding.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
We are looking to accomplish the restructure with the addition of the new Director of Operations or possibly in 2020.
