Tutoring in basic skills, such as reading, writing, arithmetic and other skills required to function in society.

The Literacy Council teaches reading strategies to parents so they can read to, and with, their children. There is a large ESL component. Books are provided for families to build their home libraries.

Provide tutoring for Kern County residents who will be taking the United States Citizenship test. A walk-in class is available Tuesdays at 9 a.m. Online tutoring is also available.
