Dennis H. Jones Living Well Network

The Dennis H. Jones Living Well Network is an online and call-in resource that was created to help individuals navigate depression, stress and other challenges of life. The mission of the Living Well network is to give individuals the oportunity live their lives to the fullest by creating and supporting a healing network that can assist them in successfully navigating depression, stress, anxiety, and substance abuse.   The Living Well Network is an online resource that provides helpful information and  behavioral health referral resources. Additionally, the Living Well Network offers a hotline where behavioral health specialists are available Monday-Friday 8am-4:30pm throughout the year to answer questions, provide support and advice, and connect individuals to behavioral health providers and other resources. The Living Well Network is a trusted resource used by the entire Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare system and aligned physician groups.  In addition to information, support, resources and referrals, the Living Well Network exists as an advicacy tool that strives to remove cultural stigma around behavioral health through open dialogue at special events, marketing and community-based outreach and education efforts.   After the tragic and unexpected suicide of her husband, Dennis H. Jones, Debbie Jones made a generous contribution to the Methodist Healthcare Foundation that created the Dennis H. Jones Living Well Network with the hope that this resource would help people like her husband access support and resources to prevent suicides. The Methodist Healthcare Foundation continues to raise funding for the program through the Living Well Network Mental Health Breakfast annual fundraising event and form businesses and individual donors.

Memphis maintains the second highest population of adult sickle cell patients in the nation. For these patients, daily life is often interrupted by pain that lasts a few hours to many weeks – threatening their family life, career, education and social life. The Methodist Comprehensive Sickle Cell Center is a preventive outpatient clinic and Memphis’ first dedicated emergency infusion unit specifically for sickle cell patients. The Center is located in the heart of Memphis at Methodist University Hospital. Through the Center, Methodist strives to provide quality care, education, transition assistance for pediatric patients into adult care and groundbreaking research.  Donations to the Methodist Healthcare Foundation support these efforts and ensure that all patients have access to the care they need, regardless of their ability to pay.

Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare's community health initiatives are grounded in our faith-based mission and driven by our commitment to addressing the critical needs of our community through research-based, innovative approaches to health. In 2006, Methodist formed the Congregational Health Network (CHN) to establish covenant relationships between the healthcare system and MidSouth congregations. The CHN provides a network of 580 congregations and faith communities that partner with the healthcare system through trusting relationships to share the ministry of caring for patients- helping people navigate the journey from home to medical care and back. The goal of the CHN is to intentionally build stronger relationships and bridges between local faith communities and Methodist in order to improve the patient journey and to build healthier communities. Methodist expanded community health initiatives through a strategic approach to health within the underserved 38109 ZIP code, which was identified as the most complex, high poverty community within the Mid-South region. With little access to community-based resources, high rates of chronic disease, and high utilization of healthcare, Methodist implemented two research-driven demonstration projects to address the specific healthcare needs of this community including Wellness Without Walls community health events and Familiar Faces direct patient navigation effort.  Methodist also offers educational opportunities on 27 health-related topics at the hospitals and within the community that are open to all community members.Charitable contributions to support community-based health improvement initiatives help enhance program resources, support program expansion, and facilitate continued research and innovation in order to improve the health of the Mid-South community and to combat critical healthcare disparities.
