Option Line

We REACH those who are abortion-vulnerable through Option Line's 24-hour contact center (800-712-HELP) and cutting-edge website, OptionLine.org. Option Line is the realization of one of the original dreams of Heartbeat International's founders - a 24/7 helpline to care for women as they make decisions of life or death. With today's technology (call, text, chat, and email), we've gone even farther, reaching these women where they are and connecting them to our network of local organizations.

Population(s) Served
Adults

Heartbeat International staff logs upwards of 175,000 miles per year training and investing in pregnancy help leaders in locations all over the world. In addition to the Annual Conference and Consultant Continuing Education, Renewal and Training, Heartbeat offers an extensive catalog of resources developed in-house, as well as the Heartbeat Academy, which has an active online enrollment of well over 2,000.

Population(s) Served
Adults

Heartbeat's Abortion Pill Rescue® Network (APRN) connects women who regret taking the first dose of the abortion pill regimen to a network of medical professionals trained to administer the reversal protocol.

The abortion pill comes in two parts and is approved for use up to 10 weeks of pregnancy. The first chemical, mifepristone (or RU-486) is the first pill used in a chemical abortion and blocks the effects of progesterone, a hormone necessary for a pregnancy to thrive. The second part, misoprostol, expels the baby. If a woman has regret after taking the first pill, the pregnancy may be saved by the Abortion Pill Rescue Network.

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

Our goal is to Reach and Rescue as many lives as possible, around the world, through an effective network of life-affirming pregnancy help, to Renew communities for LIFE.

Heartbeat International key strategies are to:

Reach those who find themselves facing an unplanned, unintended pregnancy by actively marketing and providing live answer call center 24/7/365. Our team of trained consultants answer approximately 400,000 personal contacts (U.S. & Canada only) every year, in addition to the 660,000 web visits. Internationally, OptionLine.org receives approximately 120,000 visits annually. Reach is also a key component for local marketing through affiliated service providers.

Rescue women, babies and families from abortion by promoting alternatives to abortion through the worldwide network of affiliated service providers, with direct care and relevant aid, via active intervention. Prevention, reconciliation, healthy relationships counseling and other practical services are available. Heartbeat International provides training through conferences, online curriculum, and subject matter experts, to aid and assist in leadership development, increased outcomes, and organizational acumen.

Renew communities for life through public impact opportunities, advocacy efforts, and local service provider engagement of life-minded community members. Understanding life-affirming principles, practical counseling skills, and compassionate services equip those connected with and served by the local pregnancy help organization to promote a pro-life ethic in every area of the community.

Heartbeat International has over 45 years of institutional learning that grew out of the very beginning stages of the pregnancy help movement. Our capabilities include:

• Staff of 59 (full and part-time) that consists of a variety of subject-matter experts, skilled professionals, and passionate champions of alternatives to abortion.
• Network of more than 2,600 affiliated life-affirming pregnancy help locations representing safe harbors for those who are facing difficulty with an unplanned or unintended pregnancy.
• An estimated 100,000 volunteers that serve throughout the network in everything from direct client services to material needs, governance, and fundraising.
• Option Line, our 24/7/365 emergency contact center – founded in 2003 – that has answered more than 3 million contacts.
• Pregnancy Help News outlet – news and commentary to inform and inspire the life-affirming pregnancy help community.
• Business solutions for local providers, focusing on web services and search engine marketing.
• Analytics of industry practices, promoting excellence in outreach.

All Heartbeat International programs have exhibited success in promoting life-affirming pregnancy help. Yet abortion remains a common resort for millions worldwide who can see no other alternative in their situation.

While we serve more than a million each year, there are millions more to serve. Today there are families, moms, and babies, who celebrate life who might not have been able to except for the work of Heartbeat International's network of pregnancy help. Every woman should feel loved and supported during their pregnancy. There are millions more to serve.
