What we aim to solve

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

Law enforcement officers in the U.S. see more tragedy, sorrow, and human destruction in a week than most people see in a lifetime. They are engaged in a dangerous, high stress profession that often takes a toll on their personal, home and work lives, with a national 75% divorce rate, a 40% domestic abuse rate, and a 25% alcohol and/or prescription drug abuse rate. Today's anti-police media climate places a huge additional burden on an already stress-filled profession. The suicide rate for law enforcement is higher than the line-of-duty death rate; peace officers are killing themselves at a higher and faster rate than the criminal element.

Bibles for Cops

FCPO-USA distributes to all U.S. peace officers, as funding allows, copies of the American Bible Society’s Strength for the Street Bible at no charge. Additionally, we also include a copy of The One Year Bible in each New Member Packet. Designated gifts to the Fellowship of Christian Peace Officers-USA help provide these Bibles to our men and women in law enforcement across America, promoting spiritual growth in their daily lives, both on and off duty.

Emergency responders

During the week in which May 15th falls, tens of thousands of law enforcement officers from around the world converge on Washington, D.C. every year to participate in a number of planned events which honor those law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others. Every year, FCPO has a ministry team in the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) "Tent City" in Washington, D.C. for National Police Week. As one of the only faith-based organizations present, we have a unique opportunity to meet, pray with, and share Christ with others who work in law enforcement.

Whether a luncheon with a guest speaker, a family picnic, or a sporting event, local FCPO chapter members coming together is an experience that allows us to learn from, encourage, and support each other in our Christian walk. An FCPO chapter meeting offers a relaxed, non-threatening, friendly environment where members can introduce their fellow officers to Christ. We also encourage chapters to be intentional about inviting and involving spouses and children. Though specific activities will vary, we want chapter gatherings to be a time of positive Christian fellowship that enriches marriages and families. Through local chapters and individually, FCPO members are uniquely positioned to significantly influence the law enforcement community for Christ, while developing strong ties with fellow Christians in law enforcement.

The law enforcement profession creates unique stresses in the home. FCPO-USA partners with FamilyLife to provide marriage retreat and seminar opportunities to law enforcement officers and their spouses. From Weekend to Remember getaways to The Art of Marriage video events, all of our programs are designed to give law enforcement couples practical tools to help promote healthy marriages with Jesus Christ as their foundation. Of the couples who have attended our programs thus far, there is only a 1.7% divorce rate compared to an alarming 75% divorce rate among law enforcement officers nationally. FCPO-USA and FamilyLife are working together to help fortify law enforcement marriages and strengthen the faith of officers and their spouses.

Goals & Strategy

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

The Fellowship of Christian Peace Officers-USA (FCPO) is dedicated to ministering to the spiritual and emotional needs of the men and women serving in U.S. law enforcement. Our goal is to bring Christian officers together, discipling, challenging, and equipping them to reach their fellow officers for Christ, as well as living out their faith in their personal daily lives and their service to the community.

The impact can be huge. Christian officers can take the love of Jesus into places and situations where civilians could never go. Imagine law enforcement officers across the nation responding to every call for service with Christian compassion. Their changed lives and compassion for those usually looked down upon by society has the power to transform neighborhoods, cities and society as a whole.

The Fellowship of Christian Peace Officers-USA (FCPO) provides:

- Bible study tools that encourage daily time spent in God's Word.
- Meetings where members can introduce fellow officers to Christ in a relaxed, friendly environment.
- Opportunities to minister to others through chapter service projects.
- Marriage enrichment opportunities promoting healthy relationships with Jesus Christ as their foundation.
- Personal financial fitness and leadership development training opportunities.
- Accountability, encouragement and support in the officer's personal spiritual walk.

FCPO-USA currently has over 250 chapters across the United States. Our focus on ministry to the men and women in the law enforcement community across the United States, and their families, along with strategic partnerships with other reputable organizations, continues to expand our “reach” and meaningfully touch thousands of lives with the love of God in Christ.

- New chapters continue to be chartered, dormant chapters reactivated and membership is growing.
- Of the couples who have attended our programs thus far, there is only a 1.7% divorce rate compared to an alarming 75% divorce rate among law enforcement officers nationally.
- Over the years of FCPO involvement in the law enforcement community, we have not lost a single member to suicide.

With the prayers and financial partnership of those committed to reaching the law enforcement for Christ and the betterment of the community, we will continue changing the face of law enforcement nationwide.
