Adoption Program

The Beaver County Humane Society is an essential, life-saving business and the only animal shelter serving Beaver County and contiguous parts of Allegheny, Butler, Lawrence, and Washington Counties as we as adjacent parts of West Virginia and Ohio.

BCHS is a “limited-admission” shelter, meaning we do not euthanize animals to make room for others. If space is not available, we will ask to include a pet on our surrender wait list. If it is an emergency, we will find a solution. We accept all stray animals regardless of health and behavior issues.

We take the adoption process very seriously. We strive to ensure that each pet finds the proper family and that each family finds a pet that will match their lifestyle. A variety of dogs, cats, rabbits, and other small domestic pets are available to approved homes. Adopters are educated about responsible pet ownership during the adoption process. Adoptions have more than doubled – from 963 in 2013 to a record 1,990 in 2017.
