What we aim to solve
Some children are dealt a bad hand from the very beginning of their lives. Others make bad choices as they grow and develop. In any case, we want to be there to open doors for all children and youth so they have every possible chance to be safe, happy, and successful.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
YSB strives to ensure every child has the opportunity to reach his or her full potential. Our goal is to keep children safe, ready them for the pressures associated with dangerous choices they are likely to encounter, provide safe adults to assist when these pressures and/or other life problems impact their lives, and to learn from them.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
Through universal and targeted strategies, YSB works at the community and individual level to help children overcome barriers to success. First and foremost, we strive to keep children safe. Through our youth shelter, drop in centers, and our neighborhood outreach we offer protection. We strive to prepare children to respond to dangerous pressure. We work to strengthen families so children have support at home. We provide youth leadership opportunities and listen and learn from our youth. Ultimately, we want all children to live safely, enjoy their childhoods, and succeed as adults.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
YSB has been an integral part of the Centre County community since 1968, working to strengthen the community through our youth. YSB manages direct federal grants, multiple county contracts, various state and foundation grants, and private donor dollars responsibly and for the betterment of children.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
Progress is measured through the aforementioned systems. In addition, YSB is part of several county-wide plans including the Children's Roundtable, County Children and Youth Services outcomes, and the overall prevention plan outcomes for the County.
