What we aim to solve
Our organization exists to provide both human and financial support to Pleasant Ridge Manor, Erie County PA's only county-owned; long term care nursing facility. This group of dedicated and diverse volunteers aim to assist the PRM Board of Trustees in promoting public relations which will bring greater community interest and understanding to PRM, as well as to raise funds to supplement recreational, personal and/or medical services to its residents. Our fundraising efforts are at the forefront of our mission. In the past 5 years, we've renovated two large areas dedicated to providing comfortable and aesthetically pleasing accommodations in which our residents and families can visit. Our efforts to recruit volunteers and fundraise are endless. We are compassionate caregivers who see endless possibilities for our living & working environment satisfied only by great fundraisers.
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Physical Therapy Gym Renovation
This fundraising campaign aims to raise at least $100,000 for the renovation & update of our PT gym for our residents. A large percentage of our admissions are prescribed physical therapy for healing and strengthening. Many are discharged back to their homes in the community, while some remain residents here long term. Our current gym set up is inefficient and unattractive. Since we market our excellent PT program to potential admissions, this will help make our program more marketable, thus increasing admissions & patient satisfaction.

Goals & Strategy

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
First and foremost, our primary goal is to acquire funds each year to continue to help Pleasant Ridge Manor, its Board of Trustees and its employees continue to upgrade, replace, beautify and enhance the living environment for our residents.
Our second goal is to continue to recruit members of our community to volunteer. Adult children are staying home to care for their own aging loved ones, some have second or third jobs to maintain that household. That limits their ability to volunteer with us. Even the most dedicated volunteer becomes unreliable or unavailable when they're forced to make the decision to stay home to care for their loved ones. College aged kids are not always reliable and most times only need a pre-determined number of service hours for their classwork. Recruiting and retaining volunteers is difficult.
Our third goal is to increase and promote a positive perception of our facility in the community. We work hard; we love harder.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
Strategy #1: continue to develop, implement and evaluate fundraising campaigns
Strategy #2: increase written communication regarding fundraising campaigns
Strategy #3: work on completing an online donation process
Strategy #4: work with our Community Relations individual, our Board of Directors & our Board of Trustees to gain their commitment
Strategy #5: continue working with our local nonprofit partnership for help with grant writing and resources management
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
We've been growing with our Board of Directors since 1983 and we're glad to have great diversity amongst our members. They are uniquely talented and we plan on utilizing their skills to help reach the wider membership. They'll be asking for help extending our reach into the community for donations and to distribute information about our organization.
We use a fundraising calendar to manage our efforts. Volunteers are recruited from the membership to help with the details.
We'll employ budgeting techniques and track our expenditures. Our Treasurer will keep us up to date as to the progress of any particular fundraising campaign.
We report progress and problems to the members of our Board on a bi-monthly basis.
We also have the benefit of employing nearly 400 people who give generously to support our causes and the families of our residents are also very generous.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
In the past 5 years, we've completely renovated a snack bar area and made it into an internet café where residents & their families can visit on comfy sofas and have a bite to eat. (approx. $20,000)
We've completely renovated an all-purpose room to become a room where there are dedicated areas for quiet library time, a television area, an activity area, a technology corner, a couple of seating/visiting vignettes, and the complete reno of two restrooms attached. (approx. $65,000)
With help from a partial, $15,000 grant, we've helped purchase a new ($70,000) 15 passenger wheelchair van for community outings and we received a completely grant-funded (approx. $45000) transport van for our clinic/medical appointments.
We completed a renovation of our Chapel entrance areas so it's beautiful and safe.
Our plan to complete a $100,000 renovation of our Rehab/Physical Therapy gym has been realized and we were under budget by nearly $70,000!
