What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Fresh Start
The Center for Spirituality provides Care Management services through our Fresh Start program, which employs individuals who have been living a clean and sober life for a minimum of five years. As Fresh Start's effectiveness became known, our client base grew significantly. Our initial staff of two Care Managers has quadrupled in response to our increased volume. Our Care Managers provide recovery support services to our clients, who are adult males and females with a primary diagnosis of alcohol, drug dependence and mental health issues in Allegheny County. The primary service provided to clients is face-to-face peer mentoring by our Care Managers as they personally escort clients to 12 Step meetings in the throughout Allegheny County. Mentoring and coaching takes place during the trip to and from meetings, at the meeting, as well as during home visits and frequent telephone contact. They also work with clients to assist them in their continuum of care with other service providers. Care Managers transport clients when necessary to appointments, court hearings, and other community resources. Care Managers are instrumental in educating the clients to work on repairing credit, paying off debt, and complying with payment arrangements. By providing these services to our clients, they have been able to sustain self-sufficiency.
Hamilton Place
Hamilton Place operates under The Center for Spirituality in 12 Step Recovery and was established based on the needs of our clients in our Fresh Start Program. The Center for Spirituality in 12 Step Recovery identified that our clients were being turned down for housing and other much needed services because of barriers with credit, criminal record, and CYF involvement, just to name a few. Hamilton Place has a 20 client capacity with an active waiting list. These clients are considered homeless and in need of life skills and support in their 12 step recovery process.Hamilton Place houses males and females between the ages of 18-60. Our clients are referred to us from treatment facilities, outpatient providers, care managers, and community organizations. We also go out into the community and provide presentations on the criteria of our program, which involves the linkage between completing treatment and obtaining safe adequate housing. We require the clients to have 30 days documented clean time. Hamilton Place provides a structured, clean and safe environment for our clients. Residents are each assigned a single bedroom and have common community places as bathrooms, kitchen, dining area, computer lab, and exercise room. We provide on-site Life Skills groups, which gives them the knowledge and know how to adapt. Residents are required to attend mandatory in-house groups, which are facilitated by contracted service providers and our Hamilton Place Community Coaches. Our Community Coaches facilitate morning meetings, provide transportation to 12 step meetings and any other appointments as necessary. Other services available to residents are assistance with obtaining Medicaid/Social Security and any other insurance benefits, if needed. Visitation is highly recommended and encouraged for family and friends, which we believe is a vital piece in supporting the resident's recovery process.
