THE WOMEN'S BOARD OF PITTSBURGH WAS FORMED TO LEND FINANCIAL SUPPORT TO THE MANY NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS INVOLVED WITH CHILDREN IN THE PITTSBURGH AREA. MEMBERS OF THE WOMEN'S BOARD OF PITTSBURGH ARE COMMITTED TO AN ANNUAL BENEFIT WITH THE PROCEEDS AWARDED TO A DIFFERENT ORGANIZATION SELECTED EACH YEAR WHOSE PURPOSE IS PROMOTING THE WELFARE AND DEVELOPMENT OF CHILDREN.

THE WOMEN'S BOARD OF PITTSBURGH DONATES FUNDS RAISED TO ORGANIZATIONS WHOSE PURPOSE IS PROMOTING THE WELFARE AND DEVELOPMENT OF CHILDREN. THE FUNDS THIS YEAR WERE DONATED TO SUPPORT BACKPACK FOR HUNGER OF FOX CHAPEL AREA, INC. BACKPACK FOR HUNGER SEEKS TO PREVENT WEEKEND HUNGER FOR STUDENTS WITHIN THE FOX CHAPEL AREA SCHOOL DISTRICT. APPROXIMATELY 800 CHILDREN IN THE FCASD ARE COVERED BY THE FREE & REDUCED LUNCH PROGRAM, ENSURING THAT THOSE CHILDREN HAVE BREAKFAST AND LUNCH DURING THE SCHOOL WEEK. BACKPACK FOR HUNGER IS A COOPERATIVE PROGRAM BETWEEN FOX CHAPEL SCHOOLS, LOCAL CHURCH CONGREGATIONS, AND INDIVIDUALS TO PROVIDE WEEKEND CARE BAGS OF NUTRITIOUS FOOD FOR AREA CHILDREN.
